Good Eats

Whist watching one of my favorite TV personalities Anthony Bourdain today, he unveiled his list of top places to eat in NYC that have been around since around the turn of the century, if not before. With the help of some of my "New Yorker" friends. I wish to visit each one of these places to feel some of the old-world style New York that flourished in the days of the immigration of many of our families.
-The first place on the list is Espositos Pork Chop. Founded in 1893, and located in the old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen.

-Next is Manganeros Groceria. Est. 1895. The quaint grocery shop, still serves the same old worl spaghetti and lasagna that once flourished with the mass influx of italian immigrants of the day.

-We next make our way down to Keen's Chop House. Est. 1885. The place has housed more famous athletes, dignitaries, and celebs than one could ever wrtite down. The size of the portions nearly blew my mind when i saw them.

-We move to a deli made famous by Meg Ryan's faked orgasm in 1989's "When Harry Met Sally", Yes i am talking about Katz's Delicatessan. A place where you can get a piled high pastrami sandwich that has been going on for generations.

-We follow a fake orgasm with a place they have been selling another type of fresh fish since the turn of the century. Russ & Daughters Appetizers. Est. 1907. At Russ they serve up any type of fish imaginable, and each can be tasted and sampled free of charge.

-Located across from the flat-iron building is a sandwich place that hasn't changed since the depression. Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop. Est. 1929.

-The next may look to be my favorite place to visit on my tour of NYC. For it is at Schaller & Weber. Est. 1937, that you can actually order "das boot" straight out of beer fest.

-We move to china town for our next visit to Hop Kee, a tradtitional cantonese resaurant that will surely test my taste buds.

-Finally, for the last remaining stop on the tour we visit Le Veau D'or. A small french restaurant Est. 1938. The man who runs the establishment greets you at the door, make the reservations, and helps serve the food. My kind of place for sure.
