One of my favorite quotes is from Robert Rauschenberg while discussing his eventual passing and fear of death: "There are moments in the day when I find it terrifying. I don't ever want to go. I don't have a sense of great reality about the next world." Then, referencing an old spiritual idea of the afterlife, he said, "My feet are too ugly to wear those golden slippers."
He passed last May. RIP, RR.
